Planning

Getting a WindTamer turbine working for you is a simple process:

  1. Analyze site
A member of the WindTamer site evaluation team will visit your site, analyze the wind, and recommend a location for installation.
  2. Select model
Based on your annual electric usage and average wind speed, and other factors WindTamer will help you select the model that is right for you.
  3. Secure permits
WindTamer will work with you to help secure a building permit. This usually takes just a few days.

  4. Apply for incentives
WindTamer will provide you the information needed to obtain federal, state, local and utility incentives.
  5. Install turbine
    • Concrete base: A concrete base will be poured. It will cure for seven days.
    • Installation and hookup: This one-day process will get you up and running.
  6. Integrate with grid and/or battery storage
You will need to contact your electric company to arrange for net metering (available cost free, as mandated by law, in 34 states). A battery storage unit may also be advantageous; WindTamer will assist you in weighing the costs and benefits.
